Recorded by legendary engineer Mack Emerman, who founded Criteria Recording Studios (Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Eric Clapton), Live at Bubba’s features bassist Paul Berner (Lionel Hampton Orchestra), drummer Duffy Jackson (Milt Jackson, Benny Carter) and the acclaimed percussionist Robert Thomas, Jr. (Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, Carlos Santana).
This 2021 winner of PF's Writer's Choice Award, recorded in 1982 by the legendary Mack Emerman, documents an underrepresented chapter of Monty's recording output, live at Fort Lauderdale's Club Bubba. It's Monty at his best, with a great band and incredibly high energy performance.
